MESSAGE OF THE HON’BLE CHIEF MINISTER OF SIKKIM ON THE COMPLETION OF TWO YEARS IN OFFICE OF SIKKIM KRANTIKARI MORCHA GOVERNMENT
Today marks the completion of 2 years in office for the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha(SKM) government and I take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the people of Sikkim for embracing change and a future filled with new hopes and aspirations. The responsibility bestowed on us has motivated and encouraged us to serve the people with the highest dedication and care they deserve.
I also express my gratitude to the Chief Secretary, DGP, Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Secretaries, HoDs, Police personnel, Home guards, Village Police, Office-Attendants, Safaikarmacharis, ASHA workers and Anganwadi workers for their contribution to the smooth functioning of the government even during times of pandemic.
The SKM party functionaries at different levels have poured their blood and sweat for our cause and to achieve our goal of systemic change and are currently engaged in assisting the people during the time of the pandemic. I profoundly thank all the party members from the grassroots level to the office bearers for their constant support and commitment to serve.
Our journey has been a challenging one yet we have been moving forward with our duties, planting seeds of development in all aspects. The nation including Sikkim has been tackling the second wave of COVID-19 which has proved to be a serious threat to people all over the world. The cases in Sikkim have increased compared to last year but our government has been working tirelessly to treat and procure every necessary medicine and equipment so that our people receive the best possible facilities. At present we are delivering the Covid Care Kit to the addresses of the patients and have been providing rations to the BPL families.
Our capable doctors, nurses and health workers, frontline workers, police personnel have served as a shield in this difficult hour and have been defending us against the virus. I appeal to all to co-operate with them and follow the protocols and guidelines that have been issued.
The best medicine at present against COVID is to regularly wear masks, observe social distancing. As there is a lockdown in place in the state, I urge all to follow the motto of “Dabhai Bhi Kadhai Bhi” and not leave their homes until necessary. Together, we can and we will break the chain.
I will be addressing the State via video on the occasion of Government Formation Day.
