Olympian archer Tarundeep Rai inspired for archery from Ramayana serial revealed Dil Bahadur Rai, father of Tarundeep Rai. During his childhood he used to watch Ramayana and he and his friend started playing  bamboo made bow and arrow imitating bow and arrow fight scenes from Ramayana,  so I feel that was the time when he started to admire bow and arrow  and few years later he joined army from Shillong Gorkha Training Center and got platform to pursue archery and slowly excelled in the field hand today he is playing Oylmpic for third consecutive term. Even though he has not able to bag any Olympic medal till date but this time I am optimistic he will surely bring one medal for nation added proud father Dil Bahadur Rai. It was informed in a conversation with Sikkim Review at their residence in Purano Namchi, South Sikkim on 19th  July 2021 . Tarundeep’s nine year old son Nusam Singh Rai has also extended good wishes to the Indian contingent for Tokyo Olympics 2020 and his father.

The proud yet simple parents of the Olympian archer informed about his passion, dedication and his personality. Olympian archer Tarundeep Rai hails from Purano Namchi, South Sikkim has come a long way as he aimed and worked hard to reach this stage as a sportsperson. Tarundeep is representing Sikkim and the entire nation in the Tokyo Olympics 2020, his parents are hopeful that their son will bring laurels for State and country as a whole. They also extended good wishes to the Indian contingent for Tokyo Olympics 2020 and their son Tarundeep Rai.

As many as 126 Member Indian Contingent, including 8 Athletes from the Northeast is preparing for their respective events for Tokyo Olympic which will begin from 23 July.

Olympian archer Tarundeep Rai at present holds the post of Subedar in Indian Army. Rai had won many awards and medal in various events. Rai is Arjuna Award 2005 holder, also Padmashree in the 2019, Silver medal in 2010 Delhi Commonwealth and 16th Asian games 2010.
