Sikkimey Nagarik Samaj’s members served notice over chief secretary corruption allegation

Executive members of Sikkimey Nagarik Samaj have received a legal notice from Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Gupta’s lawyer from Delhi. The notice has demanded immediate withdrawal of all the allegations and aspersions made by against Chief Secretary SC Gupta. The notice also asked the same media to pull down the defamatory content in its entirety, within 7 days from the receipt of the  notice and  tender an unconditional/ unqualified public apology within 7 days, to his satisfaction through print and electronic media with regard to the aforesaid baseless, incorrect and malicious allegations and aspersions made by you, the Addressees, against SC Gupta and refrain from committing or making any kind of defamatory statement or representation concerning his in any manner whatsoever, in future.

It is our sincere hope that better sense would prevail and you, the Addressees, shall take action as above in your own interest and to resolve the matter amicably failing which my client shall be constrained to initiate appropriate civil or criminal action against you reads the notice. 

In reply to this President Sikkimey Nagarik Samaj Bharat Basnett said ‘Chief Secretary is doing this to subjugate this but we will not bow down and continue to fight and we also like appeal civil society to come forward to support SNS as this is insult to all Sikkikmese as they are corrupt and still they dare to threaten us. This also shows that government’s inability to investigate and helplessness.”

Chief Patron of SNS Tseten Tashi shared “they may have filed the defamation lawsuit but we won’t fear and continue to fight for the Sikkimese people and if needed we will publicise more proof in public forum and even if investigation body needs more proof them we are ready to provide.
