National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) conferred Sikkim with 1st Rank in best performing states (less than 50 lakhs population category ) and the Bronze Medal for 20% reduction in TB incidence compared to 2015 incidence on the occasion of World TB Day 24th March 2022, Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

Representing Sikkim Dr Ashok Rai, ADHS cum STO and Dr Nirmal Gurung, APO received the awards from Honourable Union Health and Family Welfare Minister and Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

The team NTEP Sikkim would like to dedicate these awards to all the health care workers posted at Sub Centres, PHCs, DHs and Referral Hospitals, Community Volunteers (ASHAs, AWWs) and NGO partners associated with NTEP who have been fighting one of the oldest disease known to mankind. Their tireless efforts have made this feat possible for our State.

Our sincere gratitude goes to all previous programme officers who had contributed immensely in mitigation of TB scourge with their best skills and leadership in the past.

Team NTEP Sikkim has extended their profound yet humble gratitude to Chief Minister, Minister, and Department Officials for their unconditional support and guidance throughout our battle against TB menace.”

They also showed their humble gratitude to all the Specialists, National Disease Control Programme Officers, NHM HR division, WHO consultants, IAPSM, ICMR, CTD officials, NIRT, NRL, CRH,STF, ECHO India, IRL Sikkim, Counsellors, Accounts managers, SNC volunteers, support staffs and other esteemed line departments for the kind support, guidance and encouragement.

Last but not the least our humble gratitude goes to our TB patients who have been fighting against TB with their high spirit and courage. And sincere gratitude to hard working TB Champions for extending their support to TB patients.

Remember TB is still the number one public health problem in our country. However, with our collective and concerted efforts we can achieve the TB free districts, states and country within the stipulated timeline of 2025 reads press communiqué from NTEP
