Sikkim Review
Gangtok, Dec 6:
Smuggling in precious stones and antiques are the reason why five foreign nationals are here in Sikkim, that is what Sikkim police has ascertained so far from the investigation said Siva Prasad Yellasari, Superintendent of Police, East District.
Worth mentioning, Sadar Thana Police arrested five foreign nationals on the charge of Criminal Conspiracy on 05 December. Five people are  Ogen Sonam,  Resang Sherpa, Apey, Tshering Wangchuk and Rinzing Lama who were found roaming around in a suspicious manner were apprehended from two different local hotels subsequently they were identified to be foreign nationals and they have nor obtained any permit from any concern authority.
SP said “we have not ruled out anything apart from smuggling in precious stones and antiques so we have sought remand from magistrate and we have received approval also and we are further investigating the matter to find out any other reason for their visit. The case is further under investigation.
Must tell, Sikkim government has barred entry of foreign nationals from December 1st including neighbouring Nepal and Bhutan which shares special relation with India keeping their geographical proximity. A notification had also been issued saying there will be no issuance of Inner Line Permit, Restricted Area Permit and Protected Area Permit from 1st December here the question arises how they enter the state without obtaining proper permits from the concerned authority.
The case has been registered under section 120B OF IPC, 1860, and R/W SEC. 13/14 FOREIGNERS ACT, 1946.
