Gangtok,March 18:

One tourist died 4 other grievously injured in an accident which occurred near Indo-China border Nathula, Sikkim on 17th March. Deceased Dinesh Kumar Gupta (60) was from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. As per doctor injured are out of danger.

As per the information from Head Constable Nim Dorjee Bhutia I/C Nathula Gate informed one tourist vehicle met with an accident below Nathula gate resulting to which one male occupant Dinesh Kumar Gupta (60) was from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh succumbed to his injuries while on the way to Army hospital at 15th Mile, JN road other three female and 01 male occupant along with the driver of the vehicle were evacuated to STNM hospital for medical treatment. All the injured persons were under medical treatment at STNM hospital. Due to late hours autopsy couldn’t be conducted accordingly the dead body of the deceased was preserved in mortuary. The case is under investigation.

Meanwhile, Lukendra Rasaily, Chairman Sikkim Tourism Development Board shared “a tourist family from Lucknow met an accident on J.N.Road on 17th March 2022. One male member died on the spot rest including driver were injured. All were brought to STNM by the travel agents, drivers with the support of police. As per the doctor, injured are out of danger. I along with Tourism Officials (Permit Section), Sonam Rinchen and Gyurmed Bhutia,  President TAAS Sonam Norgay Lachungpa, General Secretary Ramesh Basnett with other executive members together with Champa, President of ASTHA along with members reached STNM to support the injured and bereaved family.”
