Gangtok, July 25:
After many criticism, the State government rectifier containment rule, as per earlier rule “in case of rural areas, even if one case is found to be positive, then the entire Panchayat ward shall be contained. Now changing the rule, Home department has issued new notification regarding restrictions on movement of people and other measures for Containment of covid-19 in the State.
New guideline says “Now, after careful consideration it is hereby decided to partially modify the above order and instead of containing the entire village ward, the District Authority now may demarcate micro containment zones covering only the residential building or cluster of houses where a positive case is detected.
Therefore, this order is issued for strict implementation within the state of Sikkim with immediate effect till further order. This is issued with the approval of the Chairperson, State Executive Committee under Section 22(2)(h) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005″
Meanwhile earlier rule has attracted many criticisms and Sikkim Progressive Youth Forum (SPYF) has called “the illogical and unscientific restriction causing undue hardship and harassment to the rural Sikkimese”. It was also criticized heavily on social media platforms and now finally the authority has changed the rule and hope it will bring relief to villagers.
