Gangtok, March 7, (IPR):
The delegation of NITI Aayog led by Advisor for Sustainable Development Goal Smt. Sanyukta Samaddar, IAS, and two other officials called on the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Prem Singh Tamang in his official residence at Mintokgang, today.
After a brief presentation about the rationale and different characteristics related to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), the delegation briefed the Chief Minister regarding the positive status of Sikkim in all sectors of development which includes education, health, and other social aspects related to Sustainable Development Goals.
Additionally, they informed about organizing a checklist to assist in the further development of the state and requested for the deputation of a Nodal Officer from the state to deal with pertinent issues.
The HCM was apprised about Sikkim’s commendable performance in the Sustainable Development Goals and highlighted the areas where the state needs to focus better to raise the Index points.
The CM shared some of the initiatives undertaken by the state Government in regards to improvement of health and education and instructed the research team to give regular updates from the SDG dashboard.
The Chief Minister highlighted the achievement of the state government in terms of Sustainable Development Goals and expressed his gratitude to the NITI Aayog team for their visit and directed them to provide inputs on the sectors that require the government’s attention.
