Minister LN Sharma apprised state’s agriculture activity to Union Minister Parshottam Rupala

New Delhi, Feb 16:

 Minister, Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Information and Public Relations and Printing and Stationery Department Lok Nath Sharma called on the Union Minister, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Parshottam Rupala at his official residence at Nr. Bharat – ASEAN Maitri Park, New Delhi, this evening.

Minister Sharma was accompanied by the Joint Resident Commissioner Sunil Kumar (IFS), Additional Director, Horticulture, BL Dahal, Joint Director (Planning), AH&VS Dr Thinley N. Bhutia and Joint Director IPR Bishal Khawas.

Minister Sharma extended warm greetings on behalf of the state government and submitted a proposal for the establishment of Animal Husbandry University in the state of Sikkim. He appraised on the need and scope of aforementioned demand and anticipated for the consideration of an Animal Husbandry University whereby research and training work can also be imparted to the livestock farming aspirants, entrepreneurs besides the academic curriculum.

The Union Minister assured to look into the matter for consideration.

Union Animal Husbandry Minister Rupala assured Sharma for special assistance for the ongoing Centrally Sponsored Schemes and Central Sector Schemes (NLM). Moreover, considering the hilly terrain and strategic location, he assured the delegation that the NLM scheme will be restructured and modified after receipt of the recommendation of the state government.


Minister Sharma also informed the Union Minister about the different farmer centric schemes initiated and implemented by the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang. 

It may be mentioned here that Minister Sharma arrived in New Delhi for an official visit this afternoon.
