Gangtok, Dec 12:

Menla Ethenpa re-chosen as President for Sikkim’s apex football body

Sikkim Football Association (SFA). This is his second term as president. SFA held their annual general meeting at Football House on Saturday and members of the association elected him unopposed for a second term. Ethenpa would be serving as the SFA president till 2025. It is his second term as the SFA president. The election result was declared by SFA election commission headed by R.Ongmu. Other members of the executive committee will be constituted at a later stage. Ethenpa also holds the post of senior vice president of North East Football Development Council and is also a member of the Football Development Committee of All India Football Federation, New Delhi. Ethenpa has already served the All India Football Federation as its Deputy Chairman, Competition Committee. Now the challenge for the Ethenpa would be to revive the football culture in Sikkim which Sikkim used to have in the past. Recently, SFA had shared their grievances that due to lack of funds they are not able to organize home league matches which are important for reviving football culture and club culture is also important to encourage football in the state.

It must be tell mentioned here that, Face of Indian football Bhaichung Bhutia who is also Advisor to Sikkim Football Association had also recently shared ‘what we need is little financial help from All India Football Federation and State government to run Sikkim Football Association in a smooth way and to strengthen league system in Sikkim’ for Ethenpa there is bumpy road ahead.
