SMIT Ranked 2nd In The East Zone In Private Universities

The India Today Group-MDRA Best Colleges Survey, 2021 has ranked Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT) under Sikkim Manipal University (SMU) 5th in the Top 10 Emerging Colleges in the country. In the magazine’s Top 5 Region-Wise Private Colleges category, SMIT is ranked 2nd in the East Zone.

 It is also noteworthy that Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences (SMIMS), SMU, the affiliated medical college of Central Referral Hospital (CRH), is ranked No. 8 in the Top 10 Emerging Colleges in Medicine in India. It important to highlight that SMIT & SMIMS are the only two engineering & medical colleges from the entire Northeast Region to figure in the Top 10 the India Today Group-MDRA Best Colleges Survey, 2021 rankings.

Even as higher education has been severely impacted throughout the world and our country due the relentless rampaging COVID-19 pandemic, SMU continues to shine as an educational institute of repute in the country and the region. The COVID-19 pandemic has not only tested the resilience and relevance of higher education institutions, but profoundly revamped the deliverables in academics, learning, education and skill development, leading to a realignment of perspectives and approaches within the education sector. SMU has spearheaded these transformational systems to optimally adapt to the peerless paradigms emerging from these challenges.

The University has ensured uninterrupted high quality education to our students when the lockdowns constrained universities across India. SMU has the distinction of being the pioneering institute in the region to immediately leverage high quality online modes of teaching, assessment and evaluation, with dedicated faculty and IT support. The reputed faculty coordinated all reconfigured the schedules for teaching and online learning. Progressive strategies were evolved for online practical teaching, through live and recorded tutorials with interactive classes, to optimally engage the students through webinars, e-symposiums and online workshops.

 

The success of these campaigns reflected can in the latest rankings by India Today, SMU as a University and SMIT and SMIMS, Sikkim’s first engineering and medical colleges respectively, continue to rank figure in the high bracket of university and college rankings.
