Samagra Shiksha, Sikkim and Sri Aurobindo Society organize a State Webinar on National Education Policy 2020
Thousands of Teachers Participate in the Online Training Session

A special webinar was organized by Samagra Shiksha, Sikkim and Sri Aurobindo Society for the teachers of Sikkim to provide detailed information to them about the National Education Policy-2020 and guide them to implement the policy. The virtual session was organized under the esteemed guidance and leadership of GP Upadhyaya; Additional Chief Secretary, Education Department. The other dignitaries present during the webinar were Bhim Thatal, Director, Elementary Education and Samagra Shiksha, Dr Rabin Chhetri, Director SCERT, Ms. Hondala Gyaltsen, Director, Secondary Education, K Inbaraj, Joint Director (SE/SS), and Ashok Sharma, National Training Head, Rupantar, Sri Aurobindo Society.
Addressing the viewers, the Chief Guest, GP Upadhyaya, Additional Chief Secretary threw light on the effectiveness, impact and future of the National Education Policy-2020. “The new National Education Policy lays emphasis on preparing our future generation for leadership role. There is huge focus on children’s foundational literacy and the pre-primary and primary years of school education play a crucial role in developing a better future. The teachers have a huge responsibility on their shoulders and the NEP 2020 guides and equips them with teaching pedagogies.” he said.
As a special guest, Bhim Thatal, Director Elementary Education and Samagra Shiksha said that with the changing times, the expectations from education and the needs of the country have changed. “It is necessary that the teachers who lay the foundation of education understand the new education policy in detail and move forward to implement it. The changing of role of teachers has been clearly defined in the new education policy 2020. Equity, inclusion, multi-lingual diversity, ethos etc. are the important aspects of this education policy and intent to improve the education system. Having a better and quality-equipped teaching resource will help build a better human resource and therefore role of quality teachers is pivotal in founding a better society.”
One of the special guests in the webinar, Dr Rabin Chhetri, Director SCERT while addressing the officers and teachers said, “The new education policy will be a game changer in the education sector. It is important that education makes the students happy and enthusiastic, and that they should not be burdened to attend the school. The new education policy has been designed while keeping in mind the relevance of the present times. We hope that together we will implement the policy successfully.”
Ashok Sharma, National Training Head, Shri Aurobindo Society, who attended this webinar as a special guest, said, “Teachers are the pillars of the nation and the progressive mindset of the teachers is elementary in the creation of a powerful nation. The active participation of the teachers in this webinar is indicative of their commitment towards work and proactive attitude. India is on the path of progress and the new education policy 2020 has shown us the direction for transforming education.”
