68 MONKS TESTED POSITIVE AGAIN FROM LINGDUM MONASTERY

Gangtok, July 13:

There is no any case of Delta variant have been reported till date in Sikkim, genome test report is yet come clarifies Health department. There are rumours and fake messages are being circulated in on WhatsApp saying two villages of Pakyong have been contained along with Pakyong Baajar and Delta variant have been reported which is completely fake and don’t circulate the messages.

Clarifying on the rumour and fake news DG cum Secretary Dr. Pemba T Bhutia shared “We are yet to receive genome sequencing report. So please don’t get carried away by false news.”

As many as 68 monks from various monasteries from various parts of the state have been also tested Covid -19 Positive in Sikkim once again. Earlier this year, more than 300 monks had tested positive. Mostly, monks of Lingdum monastery have been tested positive.

Meanwhile Sikkim today saw 226 new cases and total active cases have reached 2281 and total confirmed cases are at 22623. Today’s positivity rate is 28.3 percent and recovery rate is 88.3 percent (170 recovered today). In east Sikkim 144, West 40, South 41 and North 1 cases were reported today.
