Gangtok, June 24:
Education department, government of Sikkim has extended the closure of all schools and colleges till July 31, in view of coronavirus cases, according to notification issued by the education department ‘after careful consideration of the situation and having understand the possibilities of spread of infection among the school, college and university going students, the department has, in continuation to such earlier instructions, universities, colleges, tutorials, coaching institutes and hostels will continue to remain closed till July 31, 2021. However, for central government institutions, directions issued by Central Government in this regard will apply and in the absence of such directions, this circular will also apply to them. While online teaching being conducted presently through various platforms shall continue with a weekly report by Teaching faculty to their HODs
On 24th April instruction was issued that all educational institutes to reamin closed till May 31 2021, and further in continuation to the earlier instructions another instruction was issued which directed all educational institutions to remain closed till 25th June 2021.
As far as COVID-19 situation is concerned Sikkim presently has 19681 confirmed cases till date, followed by 2282 active cases, total recovered 16850, total deaths 298 including today two new deaths, and today new cases are 92 and positivity rate is 14.1%.
