Gangtok, May 30:
Following the complaint from the residents of Sisha Golai on potential landslide and loss of life and property yesterday, a team led by KC Sharma, Chief Engineer, National Highway Wing and Tshering Wangchuk Lepcha, Additional Political Secretary to CM (East) inspected the site in the morning and instructed for immediate protection. The micro piling that was planned has been delayed as the party was left with only one set of laborers though they have three machines.
Further, the team are proceeding with RCC/ plum wall in the 1st 20’ from tomorrow and necessary mitigation (whatever possible) shall be done in the mid-stretch where the retaining wall has collapsed. The team are working for arresting further damages but the working space is not very favourable.
Further, work started for restoration on war footing after discussion with the owner of the under-construction house. More manpower shall be mobilized from tomorrow reads a press release issued by Tshering Wangchuk Lepcha, Additional Political Secretary to CM (East)
