His first stop was at Hee-Gyathang Senior Secondary School, today. The school has been selected for The Model School Scheme.
The Governor was received by District Collector Mangan, Dr. A.B Karki along with SP(Mangan), Dr. Tshering Namgyal Gyatso, ASP(Mangan), Tsheten Tashi Bhutia, SDM( Passingdang), Sonam Rinchen Lepcha, BDO, Zilla Panchayat Members, students and teachers of Hee-Gyathang and officials of the district.
The Governor, in his address, said that the children are like clay and it is the responsibility of the teachers to mould and shape them. He also mentioned that the main aim of schools cannot be limited to only imparting education, but should include a wholesome development of the students.
Education is the only instrument that can alleviate humanity, he added.
He also spoke on the importance of physical activities and need to inculcate sports and fitness in one’s life.
Earlier, SDM Passingdang, formally welcomed the Governor and briefed him about Dzongu and Hee-Gyathang demographics, flora and fauna, while the Principal of Hee Gyathang school, Shri. Parithosh Pathak, presented the school report and placed the requirements on behalf of the school.
The Governor also visited Tungkyoung Dho, a Bio Diversity Heritage site in Hee-Gyathang, today.
