The last rites of veteran leader and former Chief Minister of the State, B.B.Gooroong was held with State honours keeping in view the departed leader’s contribution to the development of the State and to honour his remarkable identity as a matter of inspiration for future generations. He was a respected leader who served the State in various capacities.
Governor Ganga Prasad attended the funeral service, to pay his homage to the former Chief Minister of Sikkim late B.B.Gooroong at his residence in Lumsey, Gangtok.
Chief Minister, Prem Singh Tamang, Speaker of Legislative Assembly, Cabinet Ministers, Elected Councillors, Chief Secretary, DGP East, DC East, Political Advisors and other dignitaries along with officials from different departments of the State paid their respect to the departed soul and joined the funeral procession for the final rites to be held at Rumtek Crematorium Shed.
In accordance with the direction of the Chief Minister, a full State Honour funeral was given to the former Chief Minister. A contingent of 3rd IRB from Manglay, South Sikkim gave a ‘Shok Salami firing’, of two rounds in the air under the commanding officer for the ‘Salami’, Arjun Pradhan.
A large number of people had come to bid their farewell to the departed leader.
The mortal remains of the former Chief Minister was consigned to flames at Rumtek in the presence of his family members. Rimpoche G. Tenzing along with other monks from Deorali and Rumtek offered prayers for the last rites at Rumtek.
The Governor of Sikkim, Ganga Prasad accompanied by the Chief Minister, Prem Singh Tamang attended the final rites of the Former Chief Minister, Late B.B. Gooroong at 5th Mile Lumsey, today while the final rites of former CM late B.B. Gooroong was performed with full state honour at Rumtek.
The Chief Minister was also joined by the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Cabinet Ministers, MLA’s, Political Secretary to CM, Jacob Khaling, Advisors, Chairpersons, Deputy Mayor, Press Secretary to CM, Bikash Basnet, Chief Secretary, Government of Sikkim, DGP, officials from different Departments and well-wishers, to attend the funeral ceremony and pay their respective tribute to the former Chief Minister late B.B. Gooroong in his residence.
They also offered condolence to the members of the bereaved family of the former Chief Minister.
