Fifty Seven literary personalities felicitated

To celebrate the literary works of some of the dignified writers and poets of Soreng sub-division, the Pari Parkashan, a literary publication society felicitated Fifty Seven literary personalities, organized at the Sarwa Jayanti Rangamanch, Soreng Senior Secondary School  today. 

Renowned literary and academic, Dr. Ranjendra Bhandari graced the occasion as the Chief Guest while the Chief Minister, Prem Singh Tamang was the Guest of Honour. Accompanying him were Minister (Power and Labour Department), M. N. Sherpa, MLA (Soreng-Chakung), Aditya Golay,. Sharda Tamang, Advisors, Chairpersons, DC (West), Karma R. Bonpo, SP (West), Tashi Wangyal Bhutia, Panchayats, Secretaries and Department Officials with the Fifty Seven Literary personalities as the Special Guests for the event.

Formed under the Chief patronage of the Chief Minister, Prem Singh Tamang, the Pari Publication was established on 1st October, 2020. With a vision to elevate the Nepali literary works into more prominence, the publication has thoroughly invested in printing and marketing the works and achievements of the personalities.

Speaking to the gathering, P.S Tamang warmly greeted and welcomed the invited guests and the audience. He also congratulated all the literary personnel for their achievements and works. He highlighted the aims and objectives of the Publication Society while implying it’s importance towards the established and aspiring artists. With an intention to promote and encourage the works of our literal society and academics, the publication had been founded and that it should continue with the same essence and aspiration, Tamang quoted. 

He expressed his gratitude towards the committee for being conferred as the Chief Patron and that he will always be providing all the necessary aid and support to the committee. He stated that Pari Publication will only strive to publish the works of those local literary person which will be printed. He also suggested them to inspire and encourage the society to be more proactive in the field of literature or literary writings. He further motivated them to come forth with feedback and suggestions to the Government without any doubts and obligations.

The Chief Minister briefly spoke on the medical reservation seats for the deserving students. He informed that fifty aspiring medical students will get full scholarships from the Government. He also mentioned that  the Government has been striving towards the betterment of education, health, literature and so on. He urged the community to come forth in supporting the Government and help the State to become a Literature Hub. 

He duly paid homage to the deceased literary persons while extending his condolences to those who lost their lives in the pandemic. He also appealed the gathered audiences to properly follow all the Covid protocols without any negligence. In addition, he thanked the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for carrying out the free vaccination drive for all. 

The Chief Guest for the day, Dr. Rajendra Bhandari then addressed the audience by extending his warm wishes. He said that he was pleasantly surprised to see the flourishing state of Soreng. 

In his brief speech, he thanked the Chief Minister for his efforts in providing necessary support to the literary community. He added that the CM’s vision to make Sikkim a Literary Hub will only be possible with the support and dedication from the people of Sikkim and it’s literary fraternity. He also spoke on the importance of our Mother tongue and how speaking in our dialect is as important as it is to speak in English.

Earlier the welcome address was done by the Press Advisor to CM cum President/ Pari Publication, C.P Sharma. In his speech, he said that he was ecstatic to be able to host Shri Rajendra Bhandari as the Chief Guest. 

He informed that the Publication, since it’s inception last year have had many hurdles to overcome and as such was not able to celebrate the day in such a grandeur manner. He added that the main motivation to start the publication had been the zeal shown by these fifty seven literary persons and thus the event is a small homage to their works and arts. He also announced that each year October, 1 will be celebrated as Pari Prakashan Day in order to commemorate our art and literature.

On the offset, the event had commenced with the lighting of customary light by the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honor.

The event included the felicitation of Dr. Rajendra Bhandari by the Pari Prakashan Committee by presenting him with the customary shawl and a momento as a token of appreciation. P.S Tamang was also felicitated by the School Committee.

The event featured the launching of the book titled ‘Anyai Le Janmaika Vidro Haru` penned by the Chief Minister. 


The program also had poem recitation by Pravin Rai Zoomely, Shri Jacob Khaling (Politcal Secretary to CM), Pavitra Manav (President, JNP) and. Mandira Rawat.
