Denzong Sherpa Association and Blood Army of Sikkim organised day long blood donation camp

About 34 youngsters donated blood a day long voluntary blood donation camp organised by  Denzong Sherpa Association Sikkim in collaboration with The Blood Army of Sikkim. It was organised at New STNM Hospital, Sochakgang, Gangtok.

Dendup Sherpa, General Secretary of Denzong Sherpa Association shared “the blood donation camp is being organised as we have cancelled our state level Losar festival following demise of two Rinpochee (spiritual guru) who attained mahaparinirvana so instead of festival we decided to organised this blood donation camp. Also we came to know about shortage of Blood in STNM blood bank so we planned this and total 35 youth donated blood today”

Krishna Khadka, General Secretary of The Blood Army of Sikkim shared “there is always a good number of blood in STNM hospital being state’s largest hospital and near to Gangtok there is always need of blood so we to fulfil the same we have organised this camp.”

While Sangeeta Bhandari, Chief Consultant and HOD, Transfusion Medicine shared “yes in last past two years due to pandemic there were dearth of blood because no voluntary blood donations camps were organised but now there is good amount of blood in our blood centre but still what we have maintain our fresh stock of blood so we are always in a need of blood.
