275 tourist vehicles stranded due to snowfall

A total of 275 vehicles carrying tourists have been stranded in Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir due to heavy snowfall today afternoon. Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir are Sikkim main tourist attraction points. Even though Snowfall in the day of Christmas is good thing but now tourists have been stranded and they are now given a shelter are army camps. 

After Snowfall Mountains of Sikkim has turned whitish. Sikkim once again witnessed the snowfall, especially parts of North and East Sikkim received snowfall and once again mountains have turned whitish. Parts of North Sikkim places like Thangu and other areas have received snowfall which has turned all the mountains whitish. This is season’s first snowfall. Compared to last year, the tiny Himalayan state has received snowfall much earlier this year. There has been a dip in the mercury level in North Sikkim to 2 degrees said the metrological officials.

But the snowfall has not only brought problems it has also given a hope to the state of receiving more tourists. After the tiny Himalayan state opened its doors for Sikkim after the lock downs, the state has receiving good number of tourists on an average every day, said the tour operators.

Checkpost SHO, Thinley Rabden shared as many as 275 vehicles have stranded and now we are trying rescue and for now stranded tourists will be taken to army shelters and tomorrow will try to bring them to Gangtok.
