The three days long 11th Federation Cup, Men and Women Body Building and Physique Sports, National Championship 2022, concluded today with much exciting presentation of body builders from various states of India. The Championship was organised by the Body Builders Association of Sikkim (BBAS) under the banner of Indian Body Building Federation recognized by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, at Manan Kendra, Gangtok.
Bodybuilder Hardeep Singh from Punjab won the title of Champion of Champions while Mahendra Chauhan and Sujan Pilankar from Maharastra secured the position of 1st Runner-up and 2nd Runner-up in the championship.
The Minister, Agriculture, Horticulture, AH&VS, IPR and Printing and Stationery Departments, Lok Nath Sharma graced the concluding ceremony as the Chief Guest and handed over trophy, certificates and cash awards.
The programme had the special presence of the Political Secretary to CM Jacob Khaling who is also the Chief Patron of BBAS and the Counselor Smt Kala Rai as the President of BBAS.
Minister Lok Nath Sharma in his address, congratulated the organisers for hosting a much enthralling event of Body Building Championship and extended his best wishes to IBBF and BBAS. He also touched upon strong political will of the state government under the leadership of the Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang in the promotion of sports and recalled initiatives undertaken to encourage sports lovers in the state. It was announced that Chief Minister Prem Tamang has extended a cash award of Rupees One Lakh for the winner of tittle “Champion of Champions” and Rupees Fifty Thousand each for first and second runners up in memory of his father late Kalu Singh Tamang.
Further, the Minister touched upon unique features of Sikkim in terms of organic farming, natural scenic beauty, and hospitality and extended his warm wishes to all the athletes and participants.
The Political Secretary to CM Jacob Khaling who is also the Chief Patron of BBAS, in his brief address, expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for all support and IBBF for their guidance in hosting the event in the state of Sikkim. Further, he applauded IBBF for providing a prestigious platform of Body Building Championship for the promotion of sports in the state of Sikkim.
A total of 350 athletes had participated in the Championship that was organised for sixteen different categories.
The Championship also had the presence of the Secretary General, World Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation Chetan Pathare, Former Mr. World, Mr. Universe, Arjuna Awardee, Padmashri Awardee Prem Chand Degra, President of IBBF TV Pauly, Arjuna Awardee, General Secretary IBBF Hiral Seth, Arambam Bobby Singh, 8th Time world champion in body building, Swami Ramesh Kumar, Vice President IBBF, Tulshi Sujan Vice President IBBF and others.
