Gangtok, May 28:

     Sikkim on Friday registered the highest single-day spike of 420 COVID-19 cases, following the highest single day spike of 408 yesterday, taking the total active infection tally to 3794 as per the daily health report. After 3 people succumbed to the deadly virus during the day, the death toll was pushed to 243, says health report.  Among 420 new cases 235, 46, 136 and 02 are from east, west, south and north districts respectively, while 227 patients were also recovered successfully and discharged.

      Must tell here, in the last 24 hours as many as 1422 tests were conducted including RTPCR, TRUNAT and RAT out of which 420 samples were tested positive which can be interpreted as the positivity rate is low. Among 1422 tests RTPCR is 987 out of which 353 are positive, out of 6 TRUNAT 1 tested positive while out of 429 Rapid Antigen Test 66 turned out to be positive.

     In the last three day the number of tests has increased by almost double, on 25th May a total of 940 tests were conducted, following next day on 26th May as many as  1195 testing were conducted, on 27th May 1495 tests were conducted and today that is in last 24 hours 1422 tests were conducted .
